WHAT DO YOU DO?
As the founder, daydreamer, and creative behind Meteor Street Studio, I focus on crafting effective designs that communicate the core values and personality of each business I work with. With an innate sense for quality and sensibility to see things from unexpected angles, I aim to help others build an emotionally honest & connected business. I approach each brand design with style, flair, and a commitment to excellence.
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
My career has been a long winding road of corporate graphic design/art direction, and risk-taking. I hit a wall in the tech world where I was thoroughly unsatisfied with my work as it seemed to have no deeper meaning. After doing some intense work with a life/career coach I fully realized I was ready to go off on my own and work with entrepreneurs with heart and soul.
How do you stand out in your field?
Using my past experience working for tech giants, I bring a unique combination of commercial strategy and a compassionate mindset into my work. I base every design off visual psychological cues in order to authentically communicate the values and brand essence.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
I've been working with some amazing clients such as a florist, wine sommelier/pilates instructor, and a facilitator of beautiful in-home events. But besides my career, I'm also working on growing a tiny human and building a new house! Life is full of chaos and wonder.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
My style has been described as "elegant, timeless, and emotive" and sometimes a bit moody. My projects look current without following too many trends, which can quickly date any business.
WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?
My favorite part of every project is the creative direction and brand strategy bit right at the start. I love diving deep into the humanity and unique values that drive each business that I work with. Then taking those elements and figuring out the best methods to bring them to life visually is a thrilling sport for me. One day, I'd love to do just that full time.
WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
Marketing my own business... hands down. I never have the time to keep up with posting my most recent work. I'm too busy making it!
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
I'll gladly hire someone for a few hours a week to create my marketing content for me and update Meteor Street Studio's portfolio. Take my money!!
LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?
I don't regret any decision I've made, but I wish I could tell myself to trust my instincts more in certain situations and to stand up for myself. There were plenty of toxic work environments that I stayed in for too long, whether that was from ignorance or fear. No one deserves that.
IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
I'd love to learn more about psychology. Human connection and intentional design are at the core of what I do, so learning as much as I can about personality archetypes and other psychological triggers would amplify the work I can do for others.
WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
I’m super passionate about creating holistic branding and bringing that into an amazing Squarespace website. I don’t often do Squarespace sites only without touching the brand aspect as well.
DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.
I love helping soul-led businesses with unique ideas create amazing branding. Anyone who is trying to better humanity and fill the world with beauty.
Who is a creative that has helped you elevate your work?
Fiona Humberstone is the bee's knees. I want to be her when I grow up. She's my mentor and role model in this creative director/branding world and has taught me an immense amount that got me to where I am today.
