Q What do you do?

I’m a Senior Designer / Art Director based in Los Angeles, CA. I specialize in branding & identity, campaign launches, social content, digital ads, print / packaging, and creative consulting.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

I’ve been a graphic designer for about 10 years, with a mixed resume of full-time, contract, and freelance work. I started out primarily as a photographer about 15 years ago, and transitioned into design shortly after.

Q What are you working on right now?

I’m on my second year of exclusively working contract / freelance, and it’s been incredible building ongoing relationships with clients. I’d love to continue investing my time in recurring brand partnerships.

Q What’s your style?

I’m naturally drawn to earth tones or minimal palettes, but have always been excited when I get the chance to step outside of those parameters too. I’d say both my work on Subcontext and TAIT reflect more of what I gravitate towards personally.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

I’d love to be able to expand more into Creative Direction. I have a wide network of designers, photographers, and videographers that I admire—it’d be a dream to bring them all together for a project.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

I think most freelancers would agree that client acquisition and pitching takes a large chunk of time. It’d be great to have someone out there bringing people in, and being able to devote more focus to the work itself.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

I'd go back to when I was working salaried; there's a lot of security that I was timid to part with, but so many incredible projects awaited me. I'd just say to trust yourself and keep creating what inspires you. The right people will come.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

I've really enjoyed the brand identity work I've done, it's exciting pushing something new out into the world. Campaign / social design is also something I'd love to do more of, especially when a brand wants to push boundaries and explore new territory.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

We're in the age of Pinterest and a whole slew of other platforms just like it, which can cause a lot of repetitive content to circulate, but they're also a great tastemakers. I love when a client has references of where they want to go, while simultaneously staying open to exploring further. It's helpful understanding the client's taste and being able to expand from there.

Q What is your rate?

It depends on the project format, but typically I’ll charge around $80-$100 per hour.

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

You can find me at contact@keatonwebb.co. Include your name, socials, and any details you have of the project so far. We'll kick it off from there!

Q Who is a creative you admire?

My dear friends and sister duo, Gabriela and Melody Hansen. I’ve worked with them on several projects and am always inspired by their creative perspective.

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?

Asking questions and staying curious.
