Q What do you do?
“As a visual artist, I specialize in photography and art direction; sometimes I’m behind the camera, sometimes I’m directing a team to cohesively execute a vision together.”
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
I began by scouting people on the street and through social media, photographing them as part of my creative exploration. A handful of the individuals I street cast went on to become signed, working models—which made me realize I might have an eye for something valuable. That insight led me to explore casting more seriously. I started freelancing as a casting director, which was a fun and insightful period, and eventually transitioned into working at a couple modeling agencies as a development agent. It quickly became clear that the agent lifestyle wasn’t the right fit for me, but the experience I gained during that time was invaluable. The skills I developed—particularly in identifying talent, understanding their market, creative collaboration, and understanding visual narratives—continue to inform my current work.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
I’ve always had a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Even in my personal life, my friendships have consistently spanned a wide range of ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and subcultures. I believe growing up in New York City played a major role in shaping this openness—it’s a place where diversity isn’t just present, it’s foundational. That environment instills a deep sense of cultural awareness and adaptability from an early age, which continues to shape and enrich my work in meaningful ways.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
At some point in the near future, I would love to focus more on directing. I'd love to direct a short film some day.
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
Stop thinking so much and just go for it. No one knows what they're doing and we're all figuring it out as we go.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
More photo and art direction projects- I love shooting stories for clothing brands and music artists, so more projects in that realm would be cool.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
Shoot me an email at sherriegphoto@gmail.com and include any info about the project (rate, shoot date, usage, deliverables etc.)
Q Who is a creative you admire?
Yuval Ozery is an incredible artist- he does everything from styling, photo, painting and even designs and makes jewelry. He and I have collaborated a handful of times and we're currently working on another project set to shoot this month. His socials are @yuvalozery and website yuvalozery.com
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
Getting out in nature always makes me feel grounded and inspires new ideas.
