Q What do you do?

I’m a Graphic Designer and Visual artists who enjoys generating Creative brand and design solutions for businesses and initiatives.

I enjoy exploring how to communicate nuanced and complex messages through the condensed simplicity of graphic colorful forms.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

I graduated with my BFA in Graphic Design from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. I launched an LLC for Design services in 2020 after discovering my passion for social innovative initiatives. Shortly after, I became an educator and lead designer for a Graphic Design studio.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

My Design solutions are influenced by community dialog around systemic social and environmental issues that plague disadvantaged groups. My work strives to develop visually communicative approaches and, depending on the client, bring awareness to social and systemic issues. I'm keen on showcasing how design approaches work across multiple applications including motion design and all for an affordable price.

Q What are you working on right now?

I'm currently working on a logo brand refresh for the Loppet Foundation and a Logo design for the FIS cross country world cup. The Loppet is an organization that encourages people of all ages to explore outdoor adventures through their programs. They also
hold competitive skiing and biking events in MPLS. The FIS Cross country World Cup ski race is typically held primarily in Europe…this is the first that will be held in the U.S. in
over twenty years.

Q What’s your style?

The project that best represents my design taste is the work I did for the Minnesota state fair DFL booth. I receive great satisfaction from creating balanced relationships between typography, illustration and graphic forms.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

Honestly, I love working in any realm of the arts! Career-wise, I'm living out my wildest dreams. However, I do have a love/talent for all things finance and investment.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

The construction of time. Many amazing ideas, sometimes not enough time.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Administration and expansion work for running and maintaining my LLC as well as audience expansion work for social media platforms and marketing tools.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

Learn a second language and study abroad! Many beautiful connections waiting to be made if only we could understand each other and the amount of inspiration waiting to be experienced if only I had caught that flight!

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

The influence of Art in social progress.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

I enjoy designing for projects rooted in authenticity, social innovation and fun, but that doesn't mean we can't work together (:

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

I've been fortunate to work with a wide range of clients, initiatives and businesses. I've built beautiful and strong relationships with each of my clients and prioritize the human experience every step of the way. I deeply appreciate collaborating with clients whom communicate easily and consistently and whom transparently address the smallest details and desires of a project. Extra points if you can show a little humor throughout the process.

Q What is your rate?

It’s flexible as it pertains to client budgets. I charge a Flat price for each project and pricing varies depending on timeline, design intricacy and project scalability. I've priced work ranging from $500 - $15,000.

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

Contact Taydejohnette@gmail.com or DM me on instagram @dejohnettee. Include background information about your project and end goals. Let's set up a meeting and take it from there!

Q Who is a creative you admire?

I'd advice checking out Patricio Delara and Greta Kotz.

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?

Love from community & Humanization
