Tippi McCall Clark
WHAT DO YOU DO?
It's called capturing lightning in a bottle for a reason. While leading the creative identity, strategy, visual design, content, and brand voice of a boutique-inspired home goods brand, I also lead the team responsible for crafting and executing our story.
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
I fell in love with fashion at an early age and collected magazines folding the corners of my favorite pages. I started paying attention and indexing the designers and photographers that helped me escape the mundane life of growing up in a small town.
My very first job was designing watches and jewelry for the tween line of the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen line at Walmart. And, moving up the ranks almost 12 full years later, handbags for Marc Jacobs. I get the most joy these days as Creative Director, leading the team responsible for telling our brand story.
How do you stand out in your field?
I love to mix fashion with interiors so that they both get lost in one another.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
A pet campaign, based around a mid-century modern futon made for dogs.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
I recently launched a back to school campaign based around my devoted adoration for the 1980s movie genre. It's a classic tale. Put a jock, a geek, a criminal, a prom queen, and a kook together for long enough, they'll find out they have a lot in common. Fact, this is still true some 30 years later. Here is the brand video shot at John Marshall High School, where the greats were filmed :(most notably: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Bachelor Party, The Wonder Years, Grosse Pointe Blank, Nightmare on Elm Street, Can't Hardly Wait, Pretty in Pink, Girls Just want to Have Fun, Van Halen's, Hot for Teacher Video, School of Rock, and our favorite, Grease. Grease, is the Word. Is the word... is the word...)
WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?
I love creating beautiful, compelling content through visual and verbal story telling. I get the most joy these days as Creative Director, leading the team responsible for telling our brand story.
WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
Non-realistic budgets.
LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?
Don't be so hard on yourself. Value grace under pressure.
WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
I'm looking to be inspire and be inspired. I want to tell the next great brand story with fashion and interior design.
HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?
I love a good coffee and a chat. Keep it casual for the first meeting.
HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
