I have tried many courses before and they can be a snooze with the length of the videos, delivery, and tone. This course was divided into digestible pieces that made this easy to refer back to when I needed to be reminded of something while infused with Megumi's fun personality which kept me up and energetic to follow along.
The first client I took on after the course was a queer small business brand that I won dress giveaways from. I always felt bad because these dresses are stunning and not cheap - but now I've been able to pay them back and support them with my new skills!
Ceilidh is an incredible and super experienced instructor, getting insight into her way of working is invaluable. You can take this course with any level of experience; it’s perfect for anyone who’s never opened Google Analytics to someone who works as a digital marketer. It was great to review the foundation pieces and then get granular, insightful info and instructions from someone who’s worked with many high level brands.
The templates are really game changing. They make it easier to understand the data, present marketing ideas, and also offer a new way of thinking about the digital marketing process by walking through every aspect from analytics to creative content.
The business section was a huge eye opener as I had never been taught the skills on finance or how to estimate projects based on tracking my time. This is going to be so important for the future and how to navigate the business side of things.
I have had so many people reaching out to work on projects and on brands from my portfolio. It feels amazing to be working freelance with such creativity.
The format of the class is one my favorite things. ilovecreatives crushes e-learning so hard that it doesn't feel like e-learning. Being a visual learner I loved getting walked through the nitty gritty. I would never have learned 5% of what I did in this class if I tried to absorb it through blogs/forums or even a traditional class.
Having the 1:1 time with the TAs and Puno with all that industry knowledge and experience was so incredibly valuable and I can already feel myself getting better at designing. Puno makes the course content itself so fun!! Which is so important as its all self-paced. I also love that once you've accessed the course, you also have access to a whole world of like-minded creatives, inspiration and resources that you can redeem your rewards for, so your learning doesn't actually end when you finish the course.
I learned the most about myself when creating a custom site for my therapy practice. I learned about the colors I'm drawn to, the images I wish for folks to resonate with and see themselves in, and overall how design can help me tell the stories I wish to tell.
I have a whole new skill! I feel confident making a range of videos and understanding the technical side of creating a video has also influenced the way I think creatively about image making, for the better!
The way my levels of confidence as a designer shot right up is insane! Oh, it skyrocketed after completing the first section alone. I cannot give enough praise to the curators of the course. If you want to expand your graphic design knowledge in a totally fun and immersive way, this is for you.
Taking the Creative Copywriter Course has changed my writing (and myself) for the better. I have a pretty non-traditional writing background. I am a Pediatric Registered Nurse but I knew writing was something I loved and I was really craving some more creative work in my life. I also wanted to learn a new skill that could allow me to work remotely and travel more freely.
First of all, it is SO FUN. Puno just has the best personality and energy, everything is beautifully designed that it only motivates you and gets you excited to go through it. That, and the Discord community & resources are the cherry on top, sooo valuable and worth it. I feel more confident in my Squarespace abilities and I believe I've been left with so many tools to keep practicing and improving further.
Honestly, it was so fun! I really loved the gamification aspect of it and just Puno's personality throughout the whole thing. I've definitely taken some courses that are so dull and stuffy and it makes it difficult to get through, but these were totally enjoyable.
ilovecreatives has brought so much value to my life. The Squarespace Design Course helped guide me during career uncertainty and confusion. The course unlocked a passion in me that I never knew existed. The lessons are digestible, the tips are tangible, and let’s not forget to mention how much fun Puno has while teaching you. Also, the community here is exceptionally active and leans on each other for motivation and support for course assignments and personal work. Something special is happening here, and I’m honored to be a part of it.
This whole course helped me a lot about understanding the basics of blender in the most structural content ever plus it was never boring cause you get cool visuals and water breaks (gotta keep the hydration 🌊) Alex break down the course bit by bit and you get cookies after each lessons hehe 🍪 In addition to this whole course, you get a package of cheat sheets and fun community to engage with and be inspired by each other's work! Definitely and highly recommend this course! ⭐️
I took another Shopify course that was more about getting clients and how to position yourself and stuff like that. But I didn't get the feeling like I was able to tweak it and create stuff that was different and custom, like I'm used to on Squarespace. And when I took this course, it was like giving me the permission to play.
I was looking at the Glowe Cookie Theme, and trying to be like, okay, how can I make this work for the case that I have? And kind of dismantling pieces in my mind of how it was going to chunk out and build it. And even just being able to think like that felt so much more natural than before when I would have just stared at it for like 20 minutes before having a panic attack.
I feel like Megumi did a really good job showing both the structure of how this works, but then also, this is what it’s visually doing on the website. So they actually connect. For me as a learner, the logic and the language of the coding is so intimidating because I’m not sure what that’s supposed to look like on the other end. I feel like Megumi did a really good job connecting the two.
I wanted to learn about design in a fun environment where I felt that the instructors' style matched my own and made me excited to try something new. It was a no brainer when I found ilovecreatives. Through the course I gained a real appreciation for process and design thinking, not just beautiful design. When you create thoughtful concept with design justified decisions, that's how you create something that not only looks good but also is well thought out and actually fulfills the brief.
I learned so much about myself as a writer throughout this course – Tasha helped me hone in on my specific skills, the areas that I need to work on, and what I love about writing. CCC helped me develop my identity as a writer. I gained confidence and momentum working through the assignments and practice briefs. I loved all of the assignments – this was a great way to experiment, practice my skills and refine my work.
By presenting the course in sections from freelance to liquid and design basics, I was able to find my areas of interest (liquid/code) and apply these learnings to my current role as a PM for an e-commerce web design project.
This course is so much more practical and realistic compared to the free certificates or the boring big corporate courses. You get to see exactly how an expert analyzes data, builds strategy decks, implements retainers, workflows and templates so that it’s all less overwhelming. Plus, Ceilidh’s POV is from all sides: freelancer, small business owner, employee (both in-house and agency).
In short, I loved the course. It was humorous, colorful, and illustrative, just super engaging and interactive. I'm a bit of a gamer in my free time, so I was drawn to the gamified element, which worked for me while doing the course. It encouraged me to track my time. And it's really helping me with my pricing (Not just for web design, but for everything.)
I'm pleasantly surprised with how this course has influenced other areas of my practice as well. I think it will be a really good skill for my practice, especially for working remotely, and it’s exciting to see where things will go next. I'm just really glad I did this course. It's been an absolute pleasure.
I came into this course thinking that the visual aspect of creating websites would be what I loved most, but turns out I love coding. I've loved nerding out on and leaning into my developer side. I started the course with zero coding knowledge, and while there's still tons to learn, I feel equipped to develop custom websites on my own!
Megumi is a phenomenal instructor! They make every topic approachable and are always ready to help.
This course has enabled me to step into a new direction in my career that felt overwhelming and impossible before taking this course.
A lot of the 3D Blender tutorial content is geared towards a style that did not speak to me. I didn't realise how much of a mental block that was until I started doing the course which invited such a playful fun world. The course not only gave me technical skills for 3D but also really encouraged me to play around with an aesthetic that felt true to me. The level of detail that Alex condenses down in a fun teaching style blew my mind. He really helps you understand what you are doing, rather than mindlessly clicking buttons.
The targeted ad I received felt like it was talking directly to me. As Puno flew across my screen, in an instant I knew I was meant to sign-up. And while of course, the course is an investment, I really admired that this wasn't a $$$$$ course promising the world and more, but an actual community offering a personable experience. As a self-taught designer, I wanted to see inside what being led through a curriculum would be like. I'm glad I did.
This course has expanded my horizons of what's possible by so much!! Consistently putting in time for this class has had me grow my skillset so quickly. Puno & team made it so fun to learn and the amount of resources provided aside from the instructions is invaluable. Also being able to see others work in the Discord made me feel like I was on this journey with other people and that was so inspiring (and you get to see so many people's styles!!)
My favorite thing about the course is the community! Everyone is so kind and chill! I love the fact I can still earn cookies and receive feedback on any work. I have founded a creative studio that specializes in Squarespace Web Design! I've also made some cool internet and IRL friends from the course.
My advice would be don't overthink it! Have fun, use time blocking to schedule time for the course, if you need a break, don't take too long of one. Oh, and take advantage of the ilovecreatives Pomodoro Method timer.
My favorite part of the course was learning a couple new tools I didn't know before that I now use all the time, along with getting 1-1 feedback multiple times that has transformed my portfolio! I also love the foundry recommendations and the mock ups... I use those all the time. I now feel pretty good about my portfolio both from my projects and the layout of the entire portfolio. I'm not embarrassed to send it!
I loved picking fonts, playing with color schemes, and drawing logos. My portfolio and my confidence are looking much more robust now. I feel good calling myself a graphic designer now, my current design work started looking better, and I have already gotten more freelance work because of it.
My advice to anyone taking this course is don't stress and work at your own pace. Create deadlines for yourself and then once you miss them just create new ones!
