Graphic Design Course Student

The thing I've enjoyed the most is the amount of resources/helpful sites that give me inspiration + the collaborative nature of this course — classmates encouraging and supporting each other! My favorite thing about the course is how readily available the teachers and staff are to lend a hand or assist with the design process, especially when it comes to specific software questions!

I wanted to take the GDC because I've very interested in graphic design — from studying it on my own time, learning different software, and my overall desire to create. I've never taken a formal graphic design class but I was attracted to this one because I have been following ilovecreatives for a while now and love the work they put into the world and it allowed me the flexibility to learn at my own pace while also working my other job.

What I enjoy most about the course is probably Puno's videos because they're very helpful and she has an energy level that motivates me. I also enjoy the number of resources they have included in the course package — from fonts to moodboards, to job listings, and everything in between! My favorite thing so far is probably the Discord channel because you can receive feedback, and inspiration, or just spark a conversation with a like-minded person.

My advice is to be prepared to sweat a bit. I'm an overthinker and a perfectionist and this course have certainly tested both of those things. I've needed to go on walks to decompress, rewatch tutorial videos over and over and just approach this work with a new mindset that allows for mistakes because, at the end of the day, this is a blend of technical skills, creativity and confidence! Don't be afraid to mess up... we will mess up again in the future... and that's okay.
