Q What do you do?

I do the heavy creative lifting to liberate your creative teams’ workload.

I specialize in visual branding and packaging design. I also create custom Squarespace websites and so much more. I have an amazing team of designers, illustrators, UX/UI designers and other areas of creativity that I lean on depending on the project or goal. Helping anyone from startups to billion dollar enterprise companies since 2006.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

I worked as an in-house graphic designer for many years. I had the wonderful experience of being apart of internal brand redesigns for several companies. Here is where my love for visual branding design began. Seeing and experiencing a brand redesign from the client's side as a designer was invaluable. I also learned the common issues on internal creative or marketing teams. I bring all of that knowledge to my current clients to help navigate the internal processes and politics when partnering to solve their creative needs. Understanding every choice made must come from a place of research and strategy.

As a contract creative director and designer I always have my clients best interest at heart. This means no surprises, billing or otherwise, and being sure to hitting deadlines. Knowing you have a creative challenge and it will be solved in time and on or under budget is the goal every time.

Experience in: Retail, Aerospace, Technology, SAAS, Healthcare, Government, Human Capital Management, Entertainment, Non profit, Marketing, Design thinking, Human centered design, and more

Q How do you stand out in your field?

Trust and transparency. Two very important things to me. I offer a project roadmaps so you are aware of every step needed to complete a project or project phase. This provides a level of transparency that helps track and set expectations not only for the project but also for the amount of your time needed. Every creative project is a collaboration. I want to partner with you since you the expert in your field.

I also work with flat rates. Everyone hates billing surprises. Hourly billing, Yuck!

Q What are you working on right now?

I am doing the impossible! Rebranding my company The Great Exhibition. For all my fellow creatives you know the struggle of designing for yourself.

Q What’s your style?

My style is a huge mix of minimal, retro/vintage, and a dash of joy. I tend to lean toward something that feels familiar but new. I have a pinterest board that is my north star. I feel like my style is evolving and has been for the past 3 years.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

I want to do more things with children's products. Toys, decor, clothing or really anything kid related. It brings me so much joy working on projects like this. Kids have huge imaginations and I love not having limits and adding all that fun to the work. I also enjoy physical product development.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

Scaling! I want to bring in more talent but that also means I need a project/client manager. Having a tested way of bringing in dependable talent would be a game changer. I am getting there.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

I would have them project manage. I could focus on making connections and quality of work while they project manage and keep the team on track. This would include on-boarding and closing out a project.

Wait! I should just do this now! On it!

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

I wish year 7 of my career I would have quit my job and went out on my own. It is so rewarding. I like the pace, structure and knowing that my career is in my hands. I would be so much further! I have meet so many wonderful people in my career that I would not change much but having the amount of work I have now when I was younger would have been a dream. I was hungry for it and could have failed faster to become a better version of me.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

Growing a service based business

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Branding or rebrand projects, Packaging, Squarespace, exhibit and conference experiences, pitch decks, creative strategy, creative consulting. I love large scale projects. The more complicated the better. 😎

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

I love working with companies or organizations that make a difference in the world. Doing good not matter the scale. I also love working clients that want a creative partner. A partner that will bring fresh ideas to the table to help them stand out in the industry. Looking to build longstanding working relationships.

I have a client that I have a monthly retainer with. They know they can count on me for anything they need from internal events, booth design, brand templates, custom icons, etc. It really is visual brand maintenance. I bring in other creatives as need for special projects.
