Taylor Rae
Q What do you do?
“I help people / brands tell stories and create experiences.”
I have been working in marketing for the last 12+ years both in experiential and digital. I've worn many hats from social media manager, video editor, to working in influencer marketing and PR. We all know the pandemic paused many industries including events so then came the big pivot into sales. I have spent the last 4+ years building a business as a real estate agent while keeping my creative endeavours flowing in the background. Soon I'll be adding notary public to my trades which I'm really excited about, so long story short, I'm the ultimate slashie with many passions.
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
I fell into both field and digital marketing but as for digital I actually started this later when I was feeling burnt out in the field. I happened to have a friend that needed help shooting her YouTube videos which is how I fell in love with content creation. She suggested I get into social media management so with the experience I had working with her I was able to land my first social media job at an agency.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
Is it totally cliche to say that my work speaks for itself? If so, why don't I further clarify that by saying I definitely have a unique vibe, aesthetic wise. On the copy side, my commitment to story telling is evident, along with my overall consistency. On the client side I like to think of myself as someone that goes above and beyond, without trying to nickel and dime every step of the way because that's just not my style.
Q What are you working on right now?
I am working on my notary public license which probably sounds boring, aside from that, I am still very much focused on building my portfolio with projects that align with my goals and interests. I am thinking a lot about getting deeper into photography, especially videography so stay tuned.
Q What’s your style?
I don't like to post too much online about my projects because I like to give my clients privacy, so I post just enough to intrigue ;) With that being said, the experience and projects that I am most proud of are in a portfolio that I have worked very hard on and I am happy to send it to anyone interested.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
I really enjoy content creation and wish there were more projects that didn't combine content and social media management because they're so different from each other. I also love video editing and could see myself taking on a full time editing project, that sounds like a dream honestly.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
I would probably hire someone to help me find new clients :)
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
Seven years ago when I was getting into digital marketing I wish I could have told myself: don't sell yourself short.
This is something I used to do a lot and since then I realize how silly that was because all of my experience intertwines with each other but I couldn't see that back then. If I had, I probably would have leveraged it more when I was looking for my first social media management position.
Everything happens for a reason though, and I am truly so grateful to the company that gave me my first job without actual smm experience.
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
As I explore my love for photography, I would jump at the chance to bend someone's ear who works as a stills photographer on film sets.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
Anything film related please!
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
Team collaboration on creative is my ideal project environment!
Q: What is your rate?
Rate starts at $75/hr, but I am flexible depending on the project.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
Email me hello@safaritaylor.com :)
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
I'm constantly inspired by content!
