Q What do you do?

I direct and executive produce a wide range of projects from unscripted tv shows to short and long form commercials, and branded content.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

I entered the industry as a motion graphics designer but I knew I wanted to direct commercials and films, I just needed to find the path to get there. After getting the opportunity to work on a few content projects with my best friend and now business partner Kurt Williamson, we formed HollandWest Productions and the rest is history.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

When I was a graphic designer, I developed a great eye for simple compositions but also adapted an organic approach using layer, textures and color which I apply to my tv and film projects now. Authenticity, collaboration and compelling storytelling is key no matter the format and I lead with that to create amazing relationships on set.

Q What are you working on right now?

Continuing to collaborate with brands, directing a few branded content projects and currently developing several unscripted and scripted projects.

Q What’s your style?

My style would probably be described as organic and I love playing with composition regardless of the task, pushing the frame as far as I can.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

Time management.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

I want to feel equal in this business, to be chosen for my talent and not the diversity pick…

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Cold calling potential clients and managing this brain of mine. lol

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

20 years ago, not caring what people thought about what I make and comparisons don’t get you anywhere.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

Managing business and life to feel more full-filled.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Opportunities that allow me to continue to tell great stories that may inspire someone even if it’s thirty seconds.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

I thoroughly enjoyed directing and executive producing with my best friend Kurt Williamson on the reboot of YO! MTV Rap’s that is currently on Paramount +

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

The door is always open info@hollandwestproductions.com

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?

Traveling, running and good food.
